Whenever we do copy or cut the code in visual studio editor, system would store all copied items into clipboard memory. So we can able to view the copied items in the Clipboard Ring tab in the toolbox.

Most of the time we go back and copy the text/code that was copied earlier in the clipboard. There is a facility “Cycle Clipboard Ring” in visual studio to track and reuse the past 20 Items. Copy the more than one item in the clipboard and press [Ctrl] + [Shift] + [V] would paste the last code/text that was copied in the clipboard.

To view all the code copied in the clipboard, press and holding down the keys [Ctrl] + [Shift] and press [V] then press [V] again, Editor would display all the items one by one which is stored in clipboard memory.

Do copy/cut a different code in multiple times and press and hold the keys [Ctrl] + [Shift] and press [V] separately, see how visual studio editor would cycle through all history items from clipboard. This Cycle Clipboard Ring is a nice time saving feature in the visual studio.

Suppose you want to save few piece of code and paste it into multiple places and don’t want to use cycle through clipboard ring option.

Select the code from editor and drag into toolbox, visual studio would create the clip in the toolbox as shown above and which can be dragged into visual studio editor whenever required.
